On Sunday February 17 , 2008; I was able to cover the Ill Insanity Ground Zero Tour. In which I saw legendary DJ’s Rob Swift and Total Eclipse and newcomer to the crew DJ Precise. Delight the crowd with their turntable acrobatics. All with Serato vinyl; for a while I thought that was impossible. That only that it was only good for using for parties and clubs; they went through every record even performing various songs from their debut album Ground Zero. They did a beat juggling routine with Super Freak by Rick James that left me with my mouth open. You had to be there to see it. Rob Swift did a solo scratching over a Salsa instrumental. Which was something I always wanted to see; after the performance they went to talk about the ups and downs of the music industry. On how hard even with a publicist it is to get on TV shows. When they’re putting a positive note to what is going on hip hop at the moment. After that they did a Q&A session where they answered a lot of questions about the equipment and how they got into DJing. After that they signed CDs, vinyl, posters, and took pictures with many of the attendees. It was very grassroots from the artists directly to the fans. Even with a little rain that dampened the event. It was well attended and all free of charge. Hopefully next time the show will be packed.
